Hedge Laying Competition: 12-11-2022

Pateley Bridge Pigeon Post

(Editor's note - due to the extremely wet weather on Tuesday 15th November the normal NCV task day, planned for Ellington Banks, was postponed. The PBPP will cover this event when it is re-scheduled in the coming weeks. It really wasn't a day for 'slash and burn' activity!! Luckily we have other important news to cover - as you can see below.)

The NCV A Team go all out for gold in the Yorkshire Hedge Laying Competition.

By Tilly Mint - Countryside editor

On Saturday 12th November NCV Phil G. and volunteer coordinator Liz took part in a hedge laying competition (Novice class).

Phil and Liz, wearing the NCV strip.

They worked hard throughout the day to lay 2 separate 7m long stretches of hedge at a farm near Ripley - a big ask for a single person to do on their own. (They did find out during the afternoon that they could have entered as a pair - which would have been a far better option!!)

Lots of work needed here.

But that's fine. The A Team are used to that.

As you can see, both of them did a grand job...

So grand in fact that Liz got placed 6th in class and was awarded a purple rosette - and a packet of butter!! Well done Liz - and well done Phil!

Days from a bygone age no. 4.... NCV revealed

Remember last week's piano playing NCV? Did you guess his identity correctly? It was, of course our very own sower of seed - Dave L.!

Then...

...and now.
