Wallers' Update
by Graham
It was our second week at Low Waite Farm and we were lucky with the weather again . The early damp and clouds moved away to the east and left us with another sunny, although slightly chilly day. Given the sloping nature of the site, this was much appreciated by our four strong team.
Rod spent the morning continuing where he had left off last week, rebuilding the retaining wall adjacent to the steps.
Rod started with this...
The rest of us attacked the main length of wall with Graham dismantling another four yard section.
We were able to leave much of the foundation
The slope away from the wall, together with a strange mix of stone has resulted in slow progress at times. However, we've nearly completed the rebuild of some fifteen yards of wall in two weeks, a pleasing outcome in the conditions.
Wall now looking more like a wall again
Hopefully the new gate will be installed by next week and we can fill in where the old gate currently is. Once that is completed, and subject to the stone available, we will work out what more can be done.
Further along the wall -
It looks a bit of a mess - fun for next week!
A job in a couple of weeks time
Quite a few walkers passed us today. In addition, Justin, who lives a little further up the road and whose wall we completed some years ago, came to see how we were doing and to pass on his best wishes to Barry (who is now recuperating after his op). Earlier in the day, his wife, Liz had also been and had a chat.
He sent in this photo of the team!
