NCV workshop: 03-05-2022

It has been a very long time since the NCV barn has had a good 'bottoming'  - and what better time to do it than during the spring? There was plenty to do, so the NCVs had an 'at home' day this week and had a thorough go at setting things to rights.

Roll up, roll up to the great NCV barn
clearance and inventory jamboree.

This team were in charge of the tools - cleaning,
sharpening and marking them up with green paint.

There were a LOT of tools!

Another team worked in the shelter of the other gazebo
putting together two new strimmers.

A third team disappeared around the back of the barn
and got to grips with the sea of 'stuff' they found there....

...including this sea going contraption
(which is definitely not going back!)

After a long day of shifting, sawing and nailing...

...and the swapping of this decidedly past its best roof...

...for a lovely new one...

...the difference was AMAZING!!!

Of course - to deal with the inside of the barn a
good deal more 'stuff' had to be brought outside.

The team working inside the barn had to rationalise
various tool collections and do a LOT of brushing.

This created a dusty working environment
not unlike the Sands of the Kalahari.

Face masks were a necessity - and not for covid protection!

Dave managed to fold four large tarpaulins so
neatly they all fitted into a 'bag for life.'

He also managed to keep smiling in spite of
spending the rest of the day on brushing duties.

All this wood needed taking outside....

...so that it could be transferred
to the new storage area at the back.

This created a whole load of extra space for tool
storage using a re-purposed pallet (thanks Graham)...

...and a wooden basket to hold the fire wood for
the log burner (thanks Tim and Andrew).

Will dealt with this corner which included
trying to free up a blocked drain.

After working with the tools, Melanie and Alf
spent the rest of the day removing
moss from the grids and pathway

By 2:30pm it was time to close shop

 and collapse the gazebos.

Anita gave us all a tuneful farewell
on a discarded ukulele....

and Liz set off with a trailer full of rubbish
for the tip. (More still to go.)
(Tim had already made two tip trips in his car
 - thanks Tim!!)
