Harrogate Volunteering Oscar Award Update: 29-10-2016

For the benefit of our regular readers who have been joining the NCVs in crossing their fingers all week .....

It worked - we were successful!! The NCVs are now the proud owners of a Harrogate Volunteering Oscar (Wildlife category).

A number of members attended the ceremony on Friday 28th October, at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate, to hear whether or not they had been awarded one of the trophies.  Everyone was surprised to find out that they had been nominated for no fewer than four categories rather than the two they had thought:
  • an Environment Oscar
  • a Wildlife Oscar
Additionally:
  • an Unsung Heroes Oscar
  • an Organisation Oscar

They were as pleased as could be when the group’s name was read out as the winners of the Wildlife Award and filled the stage when called on to collect the trophy.

The statuette is going to take pride of place in the volunteers’ workshop at Bewerley, amongst the spades, hammers and wheelbarrows. The certificate will probably go on display at the Council Chambers in Pateley Bridge.
